Norbert Paul Czewski

May 28, 1927 — April 17, 2019

Mr. Norbert Czewski, 91 of Ubly, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at the Villa of West Branch Nursing Home in West Branch.

 

He was born on May 28, 1927 in Ubly to the late Joseph and Lucy (Dropiewski) Czewski He married Joyce Hagle on October 6, 1951 at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Kinde. She preceded him in death on December 2, 2016.

 

Norbert attended Ubly High School. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving in Germany for 19 months. He was also a former member of the Thumb Veterans Organization. Norbert was employed at Dodge Main for 5 years working on body assembly before moving to Ubly in 1954. He worked for Booms Construction for 32 1/2 years. He was also employed at the Ruth Farmer’s Elevator as a Millwright Electrician until 1992. He was a lifelong parishioner of St. John Catholic Church, Good Shepherd Parish in Ubly where he served as an usher and a member of the parish council for many years. Norbert’s retirement years were spent traveling with Joyce visiting their children and grandchildren. He enjoyed gardening, cooking and woodworking.

 

Norbert is survived by his daughters, Paulette (Dan) Polzien of Newberry, Sharon of West Branch, Kathy of Lapeer; one son, Randy of Lapeer; 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

He was preceded in death by his son, David; brothers, Floyd, Clarence, Irving, Marshall and Joseph; sister, Mary Ann Blankenship.

 

A private funeral mass and celebration of Norbert’s life is being planned. His final resting place will be next to his beloved wife, Joyce in the St. John Catholic Cemetery in Ubly.
