Marilyn I. Lautner

Mrs. Marilyn I. (Hanselman) Lautner, age 89 of Palms, passed away on Saturday October 15, 2022, at Huron County Medical Care Facility after a long illness.

She was born March 31, 1933 in Caseville to William and Ida (Erdman) Geyer. She married Melvin Hanselman, in 1950. After her first love passed in 1986, she met and married Robert Lautner in 1990.

She was the Minden City Town Clerk for many years and worked at General Cable and other factories in the area for 30 years. Marilyn was also the president of the Women’s Club in Cass City, as well as a member of United Steelworkers for 30 years. She was a parishioner of St. John Chrysostom Church, Holy Apostles Parish in Forestville. Marilyn was a very organized and dedicated worker, who had a very exceptional work ethic, with the exceptional ability to overcome anything and everything.

Marilyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially when she was able to cook for family events, especially for Christmas celebrations. She loved going garage saling, and always enjoyed going camping and boating. Marilyn was also a lover of games. She spent much of her time following the Tigers, watching or listening to every game. She also loved playing card games, such as euchre. In her free time, Marilyn loved to read magazines and cook books, as well as listening to her favorite type country music, especially anything by Ernest Tubb.

She is survived by her husband, Robert; daughters, Holly (Mark) Essenmacher, Melody (John) Frankowski, and Dr. Laurey Hanselman (Dennis Langley); stepdaughters Monica Tibbets (Doug Van Sickle), and Robin (Brian) Haag; stepsons Mike Lautner, Chris Lautner, Frank (Carey) Lautner, Bobby (Mindy) Lautner, and Bradley (Samantha Brown) Lautner; along with 12 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, as well as 9 step grandchildren, and 11 step great grandchildren; sister, Shirley (Gerald) Geiger.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ida Geyer, brother Roger Geyer, husband Melvin Hanselman, sons Gregory and Timothy Hanselman, stepdaughter Janis Lautner, and stepson Tom Lautner.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 19 from 3:00-8:00 am at Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly, MI. There will also be visitation at Sts. Peter and Paul, Holy Apostles Parish on Thursday, October 20 at 10:00, with a service to follow at 11:00.
