Mrs. Margaret P. Volmering, 91 of Bad Axe, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at the Huron Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe.
She was born on May 8, 1927 in Ruth to the late Charles and Mary (Emming) Hessling. She married Aloysius “Al” Volmering on January 26, 1946 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ruth. He preceded her in death on September 23, 2007.
Margaret was proud to be a farmer’s wife. She worked for Midwest Rubber for 26 years before she retired. She was a parishioner of Holy Apostles Parish in Ruth were she was a member of the Christian Mothers. She was a caregiver to many ladies in the area for 10 years. She loved gardening and quilting, making many quilts over the years for her loving family. Margaret cherished spending time with her family, especially her loving grandchildren.
Margaret is survived by 3 daughters, Judy Miller and her fiance`, Albert of Shelby Twp., Joyce (John) Kulish of South Lyon, Joanne (Mark) Maurer of Bad Axe; 3 sons, Earl (Molli) Volmering of Cass City, Gary (Karen) Volmering of Ruth, Herbert (Marian) Volmering of Howell; 13 grandchildren, Rene` Popour, Eric (Jeanna) Klebba, Jennifer (Mike) Jarvis, Dr. John (Dr. Jen) Kulish, MD, Jeremy (Nikki) Maurer, Liza (Jeff) Zulauf, Evan, Anthony and Jason Volmering, Cheryl (Michael) Scott, Amy Polega, Jason Polega, Sara (Chad) Santos; 23 great grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 4 sisters Angeline Burkhard, Rosemary Sherman, Audrey (Kenneth) Wolschlager, Beatrice (Dan) Guigar all of Bad Axe; one sister-in-law, Margaret Hessling of Livonia.
She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Ryan Maurer and Patrick Sweeney; 3 sisters, Elizabeth (Alvin) Landra, Rita (Robert) Ostrander, Theresa (Victor) Durrand; 2 brothers, Clarence Hessling, Charles (Janet) Hessling; 3 sisters-in-law, Elizabeth (Clement) Geiger, Mary (Bernard) Gentner, Irene (Robert) Holdwick; 4 brothers-in-law, Harley Burkhard, William (Anna) Volmering, Vincent (Alvina) Volmering, Alexander (Theresa) Volmering, Cornelius (Evelyn) Volmering.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 am Saturday, Mary 19 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Holy Apostles Parish in Ruth. Rev. Christopher Coman, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ruth on Saturday from 9:00-10:45 am.
