Leona M Peplinski, 100 of Ruth passed away Sunday October 16, 2022 at Courtney Manor.
She was born on October 5, 1922 in Parisville to the late Stanley and Teckla (Ertman) 0'Parka.
She married Edmund Peplinski on February 11, 1939 at St. Mary's Church in Parisville. He passed away on December 13, 1999.
She was a member of the St. Mary Holy Rosary Sodality. Her passion for fixing and feeding people led her to kitchen at St Mary's school, where she prepared and served hundreds of meals for hungry students for many years. She also was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Foreign Wars. She enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, cards, polka music and cooking.
She is survived by one son, Virgil (Delphine Klebba) Peplinski of Ruth, six daughters, Marie (Ron) Maurer of Frankenmuth, Janet (Ed) ldyle of Sterling Hgts, Doris Stimpfel of Cass City, Shirley Brownson of Otisville, Sharon (Barry) Fisher of Gaylord and Karen (Lenny) Maurer of Villa Rica, GA; 20 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and many great, great grandchildren including many step grandchildren; one sister in law, Loraine Peplinski of Plymouth; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Angeline Osantowski, brothers, Cass, Joseph, lsadore, Benjamin, Aloise, Floyd, Ted and Raymond O'Parka; four sons-in-law, Walter Marvin Bartarian, Phil Brownson, Tom Stimpfel and Roger Gilmore and grandsons, Dean Bartarian and Michael Smeader.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. October 24, 2022 at St Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Isidore Parish, Parisville. The Rev. Robert Kelm, pastor, will officiate. Leona will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Edmund, in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday 2:00-6:00 pm at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly and Monday from 10:00-10:45 am at St Mary's Church in Parisville. There will be a rosary Sunday afternoon at 4:00 pm at the funeral home.
Memorials have been requested to the family’s discretion, care of her son, Virgil Peplinski.
