Jon T. Grifka

Mr. Jon T. Grifka, 49 of Ubly passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, October 9, 2018.

            Jon was born on January 15, 1969 in Ypsilanti to Ronald Grifka and Catherine Zawlinski. He never married.

            Jon attended Northside High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He worked as a short order cook for various restaurants in Indiana and Michigan.  Jon had many friends and will be missed by all that loved him, including his feline companion, Bonni.

            Jon is survived by his significant other, Clara Thorning of Ubly; his father, Ronald (Audrey) Grifka of Snover; his mother, Cathy (Jerry) Booz of Schaumburg, Ill.; one sister, Pamela (Michael) Turner of Fort Wayne, Ind.; one nephew, Michael Turner of Fort Wayne, Ind. one step-sister, Michelle (Jeff) Briolat of Ubly; one step-brother, Rob (Angela) Gornowicz of Ohio.

            He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Alex and Olive Grifka; his maternal grandparents, Emil & Cassie Sobieray; many aunts and uncles.

            The funeral service for Jon will be 11:00 am Monday, October 15 at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly. Rev. Charles Hammond, pastor of Good Shepherd Parish, will officiate. Burial will be in the St. John Catholic Cemetery in Ubly.

            Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday starting at 9:30-10:45 am at the funeral home.

            Memorials have been requested to the Family Discretionary Fund care of Ronald Grifka.
