John C Kowalski

           Mr. John C. Kowalski, 76 of Minden City, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac after a short illness.      

He was born March 23, 1943 to the late John P. and Eleanor (Currey) Kowalski. He married Myrtle “Mo” Lafond on May 30, 1969 in Las Vegas.

            John was a graduate of Ubly High School. He worked at Pontiac Motors for thirty years before retiring. He lived in Waterford and in 1991 moved to Minden City. He also spent winters in Florida. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing cards, bowling and crossword puzzles.

            John is survived by his wife Myrtle “Mo” of Minden City and four children, Ron LaBarge of Tennessee, Robin LaBarge of Filion, Edward (Maureen) LaBarge of Oxford and Michael Kowalski of Washington; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Dorie Knox of Rochester Hills, Kathryn (Al) Lautner of Minden City and Janet (Dale) Wehner of Bad Axe; one brother Thomas (Ginny) Kowalski of Scotts, Michigan.           

            John was preceded in death his son Jeffery and two daughters in law, Linda LaBarge and Lucinda Kowalski.              

            Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 am Thursday, January 23 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, St. Isidore Parish of Palms. Rev. James Doran of St. Benedict Abbey of Massachusetts will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

            Visitation for John will be Wednesday from 3:00-7:00 pm at Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly and Thursday from 10:00-10:45 am at the church. There will be a Rosary on Wednesday at 6:00 pm in the funeral home.
