James R. Sutton

James Robert Sutton of Elkton, Michigan, passed away Tuesday, March 14th, 2023, at Covenant Medical Center Harrison in Saginaw.

James was born to the late James and Doris (Brown) Sutton on May 5th, 1955 in Port Huron, Michigan. James attended Harbor Beach High School. He then worked at Active Industires in Elkton for a few years before joining the United States Navy in 1974.

James was very poud to have served in the Navy for a number of years. He was a Navy man at heart. After his service for his country, James lived in many places around the United States, eventually moving back to his home state of Michigan. Once he found his way back, James joined the Disabled Veterans of America, where he was a Service Officer. He could always be found at the Disabled Veterans of America meetings in Burton, running the Bingo games.

James is survived by his son, James Sutton; his daughter, Crystal Sutton; his brother, John Sutton; his sisters, Nancy Hazel and Linda Vinson; his grandchildren, Corey Sutton, and Lily and Isabel Foley; as well as many nieces and nephews.

James is preceded in death by his brother, Charlie Sutton.

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 18th, 2023, from 3:00-8:00 pm at Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly, MI.

A funeral service with military honors will be held Sunday, March 19th, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly, MI with visitation starting at 12:00 pm.
