Gerard R. Zinger, 88, died unexpectedly May 15, 2022 at McLaren Thumb Region Hospital in Bad Axe. He was born June 17, 1933 in Bad Axe, MI, the son of Raymond E. Zinger and Mary (Kulish) Zinger Wendt. Jerry entered the Navy following graduation in 1951. A career Navy man, Jerry retired in 1971 as a Senior Chief Petty Officer after 20 years of service. He worked for Ford Motor Company as a Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer from 1978 to1980 and as a Supplier Quality Assistance Engineer from 1980 to 1990. He formed QC Consulting Services in 1990, performing consulting and quality auditing services, retiring in 1997. In addition to his parents, Jerry was predeceased by his wife, Susann (Blashill); his son, Mark (Lori) Zinger and two brothers, Aldrid E. (Margaret) Zinger, Kurt E. Zinger; step-father, Charles A Wendt; brothers-in-law David Blashill, John (Marjorie) Blashill. Surviving is his daughter, Alison (Gary) Thiel; step-daughters, Lani (Tom) Harm and Dorothy Jordan; 4 grandchildren, Michael Zinger, Dustin Zinger, Dusty Gilbertson, David Gilbertson; 3 step-grandchildren, Annie, Marit and Elin Harm; 4 great-grandchildren, Dusty Jr, Philip, Trinity and Noah Gilbertson; a sister Andrea Wendt (Jerome) Kolton; brother, Charles G. (Catherine) Wendt and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A private burial service will be held. Those who wish to remember Jerry in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the Salvation Army or Michigan Humane.
