Mrs. Bernadette M. Messing, 83, lifelong resident of Minden City, passed away Thursday morning, July 30, 2020 at Covenant Harrison in Saginaw.
She was born on August 8, 1936 in Parisville Township to the late John and Emma (Chwalisz) Wodwaski Sr. She married Vincent Messing Sr. on January 4, 1958 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Parisville. He preceded her in death on May 10, 2009.
Bernadette was a parishioner at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Holy Apostles Parish in Ruth. She was very passionate about her religion and her love for God. She was a member of the Sts. Peter & Paul Christian Mothers. Bernadette was a proud alumni of Ubly Community Schools. She became a housekeeper for Dr. Steinhart for a period of her life. Along with that, Bernadette farmed her entire life side-by-side with her helpful family. She enjoyed sewing and gardening. Bernadette loved being in the kitchen baking and canning food for herself and her family. She cherished every moment she spent with her loved ones, doting on every new child that entered her life.
Bernadette is survived by her children; sons, Vincent Jr. of Ruth, Christopher (Dorothy) of Minden City, Neil of Elkton, Stan (Laurie) of Cass City, Leo (Tanya) of Ubly, Andrew of Minden City, Ambrose (Madonna) of Ruth, Thomas (Brandy) of Parisville, and Gregory of Minden City; one daughter, Juliann (John) Stapleton of Deckerville; daughter-in-law, Karen Messing of Minden City; 28 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; sister,
Lucille Wodwaski of Midland; sisters-in-law, Bernadette (Robert) Schwalm of Ubly, Elaine Wodwaski of Ruth.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary; son, Jonathon; siblings, John Wodwaski Jr., Dennis Wodwaski, Peter Wodwaski, Adrian Wodwaski, and Katheryn Bede.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am Tuesday, August 4 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Holy Apostles Parish in Ruth. Rev. Matthew Federico will officiate. Bernadette will be laid to rest next to her beloved Vincent in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Ruth.
Visitation will be at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ruth on Tuesday from 9:00-10:45 am.
