Donna Jean Walsh

Mrs. Donna Jean Walsh, 91 of Austin Township passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Northwood Meadows in Cass City.

Donna was born on June 29, 1926 in Sandusky to the late Ira and Vera (Holstine) Smith. She married Michael J. Walsh on February 18, 1943 in Abilene, TX. He preceded her in death on September 8, 2006.

Donna attended the Freiburg Country School. She worked as a Rosie the Riveter for a few years. She moved to the Ubly during WWII. Michael joined Donna once the war was over and they raised their children while she worked by Michael’s side on their family farm. Donna was a parishioner at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Good Shepherd Parish where she was a former member of the Altar Society. She enjoyed ceramics, reading, traveling to the Lawrence Welk Resort and visiting with Archie and Penny Guigar.

Donna is survived by her children, Linda (Robert) McClain of Palmetto, FL, James (Cheryl) Walsh of White Lake, Rochelle (Donald) Weber of San Diego, CA, Cindy (Michael) Smith of Tarpon Springs, FL, David (Karen) Walsh of Ubly, Nancy (Kevin) Walsh Hrabcak of Cass City; 16 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter.

Donna was preceded in death by four siblings, Clem, Isma, June and Jay.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 am, Thursday, March 8 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Good Shepherd Parish in Freiburg. Rev. Charles Hammond, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery in the spring.

Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Wednesday from 2-8 pm and Thursday from 10-11 am at St. Ignatius Catholic Church only.

Memorials have been requested to the St. Ignatius Perpetual Cemetery Fund.
