Mrs. Evelyn M. Kubacki, 91 of Ubly passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the Huron Medical Center. She was born on July 22, 1926 in Detroit to the late Boniface and Phoebe (Lorkowski) Zurek. She married Clemens Kubacki on November 9, 1946 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Smith Corners. He preceded her in death on January 5, 1993. Evelyn was a graduate of the Verona Mills Country School. She farmed with her husband and family until 1990. She was a lifelong member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She was a current parishioner of St. Mary Catholic Church in Parisville where she was a past president and current a member of the Rosary Sodality. Evelyn was master quilter, making over 500 quilts in her lifetime. She was very particular about how her grass looked and took great pride in doing it herself all these years. She enjoyed cooking, baking and visiting with family and friends. She loved polka music, especially watching the Molly B. Polka Party on tv. Evelyn has finally been reunited with her love, Clemens, after 25 years of being apart. Evelyn is survived by four children, Joyce (Michael) Messing of Ubly, Annette (Harvey) Klee of Ruth, Michael (Ann) Kubacki and Mark (Colleen) Kubacki, both of Ubly; 14 grandchildren, Greg Messing, Paul (Theresa) Messing, Chris (Tracy) Messing, Nick (Kari) Messing, Brad (Jenn) Klee, Marsha (Don) McDonald, Dan (Jolene) Klee, Jill (T.J.) Uhrich, Katie (Matt) Maurer, Jared Kubacki, Becky (Jeff) Martus, Kylee Kubacki, Chelsey (Derek) Robson, Hailey Kubacki; 16 great grandchildren, Zac Messing and his significant other, Megan Dunsmore, Gabe Messing, Cole Messing, Zoey Messing, Lucas Messing, Lilliana Messing, Landon Messing, Miley Messing, Brady Klee, Jozilyn Klee, Jacob Klee, Liz Bellis, Joel McDonald, Kenley McDonald, Jayce Klee, Madelyn Martus; one brother, Melvin (Jean) Zurek; three sisters, Phyllis Kociba, Anna Mae (Jerry) Learman, Margaret (Jim) Ritter; in-laws, Ed Guza, Jardine Zurek, Alice (Irvin) Champagne. She was preceded in death by one sister, Jeanette Guza; one brother, Robert Zurek; several in-laws, Marvin Kociba, Susie and Fabian Pawlowski, Cecilia and Joe Klebba, Henry and Elsie Kubacki, Earl and Stephanie Dunavant. Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 am, Thursday, January 11 at St. Mary Catholic Church, St. Isidore Parish in Parisville. Rev. Todd Arnberg, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Wednesday from 2-9 pm and Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church from 10-11 am. There will be a rosary recited by the St. Mary Rosary Sodality Wednesday evening at 7 pm at the funeral home. Memorials have been requested to the Family Discretionary Fund.
