Mrs. Jane T. “Jean” Koscielski, 97 of Bad Axe passed away Monday, January 1, 2017 at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe. She was born on February 6, 1920 in Detroit to the late Peter and Teofila (Borawska) Zolnierczak. She married Eugene Koscielski on June 29, 1946 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Detroit. He preceded her in death on March 13, 2006. Jean was a graduate of North Eastern High School in Detroit. She graduated as a cosmetologist from Del Mar School of Beauty in Detroit and worked as a cosmetologist for 45 years. She opened her own shop, Jean’s Beauty Shop in Detroit in 1943. She retired and moved to Huron County in 1984. Jean was a former parishioner at Transfiguration Catholic Church in Detroit and was a current parishioner of St. Roch’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining for her beloved family and friends. She enjoyed travelling, especially trips to Poland, England and Traverse City. Jean truly cherished visiting with family and friends. Jean is survived by one son, Eugene Church and his wife, Deborah Worden, of North Street; one son-in-law, Michael Becker of Sequim, Washington; godchild, Barbara Jean Zolnierczak of Sterling Heights; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Gloria Becker; one brother, Stanley Zolnierczak. Mass of Christian burial will be 12 noon, Friday, January 5 at St. Jane Frances De Chantal Catholic Church in Sterling Heights. Rev. Tony Sulkowski, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Detroit. Visitation will be on Friday from 11:30 am until the mass at 12 noon at St. Jane Frances De Chantal Catholic Church.
