Mr. Kenneth Eugene Messing, 77 of Ruth, went to be home with the Lord Sunday November 26, 2017 at Covenant Cooper Hospital in Saginaw. He was born September 10, 1940 in Ruth to the late Wilfred J. and Wanda (Skorka) Messing. Kenneth sailed the Great Lakes for several years as a hand picked crewman on the Edmund Fitzgerald. He farmed most of his life, retiring in 2014. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church, Holy Name of Mary Parish in Harbor Beach for over 50 years where he was an usher and member of the Knights of Columbus. Kenneth is survived by two brothers, Lowell Messing and his wife, Bonnie of Port Sanilac, Dexter Messing and his wife, Theresa of Cass City; 10 nieces and nephews, Lori Maurer, Connie Aymen, Kurt Messing, Denise Lippitt, Sandy Specht, Brenda Messing, LuAnne Stirrett, Clint Messing, Kristy Messing (Goddaughter), Robin Chinnery; 25 great nieces and nephews; his best friend and loyal companion Chipper. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Virgil and Donald Messing. Mass of Christian burial will be 11:30 am Thursday, November 30 at Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church, Holy Name of Mary Parish in Harbor Beach. Rev. George Amos, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski in Ubly on Wednesday from 2-8 pm and Thursday at Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church from 10:30-11:30. There will be a Knights of Columbus rosary Wednesday evening at 7 pm at the funeral home. Memorials have been requested to Holy Name of Mary Parish in Harbor Beach.
