Mrs. Dorothy M. Uhl, 88 of Minden City, passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Autumnwood of Deckerville. She was born on April 11, 1929 in Detroit to the late Joseph A. and Stella (Spoutz) Messing. She was united in marriage Earl J. Uhl on September 27, 1952 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ruth. He preceded her in death on May 27, 2006. Dorothy was a parishioner of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Holy Apostles Parish in Ruth where she was a member of the Christian Mothers. She was given the honor of being Mama Ruth Queen in 1999. Dorothy was a member of the Parisville VFW #5740 Ladies Auxiliary. She had worked at Dott Manufacturing of Deckerville for many years. She enjoyed playing cards and dice with family and friends. Dorothy is survived by one daughter, Kathy Gwisdalla of Bad Axe; one son, Gary Uhl of Marlette; one daughter-in-law, Carolyn Uhl of Minden City; 6 grandchildren, Tracy Gwisdsalla, Mark (Sarah) Gwisdalla, Bob Uhl, Joe (Holly) Uhl, Brandon Uhl, Jason (Nicole) Uhl: 10 great grandchildren, Alyssa, Kyla, Victoria, MacKenzie, Jeremy, Jaiden, Destiny, Justyce, Gracie and Oliver; one great great granddaughter, Braylynn; three sisters-in-law, Rose (Lawrence) Robinson, Lucille (Steve) Pelot, Jean Uhl; four brothers-in-law, Eugene (Gail) Uhl, Lee (Pat) Uhl, Raymond Uhl, Merle Uhl; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, John Uhl, one granddaughter, Anita Uhl; five brothers-in-law, Walter Uhl, Harold Uhl, Floyd Uhl, Norman Uhl, Everette Murdock; four sisters-in-law, Jean Uhl, Elizabeth Uhl, Ada Murdock and Mildred Uhl. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church of Holy Apostles Parish in Ruth. Rev. Christopher Coman, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Ruth. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Friday from 2:00-8:00 pm and Saturday from 10:00-11:00 am at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Ruth. There will be a Christian Mothers rosary Friday afternoon at 4:00 pm and a Ladies VFW Auxiliary memorial service at 4:30. Both services will be at the funeral home. Memorials have been requested to the Family Discretionary Fund.
