Mrs. Maureen J. Morell, 64 of Ubly, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at home due to an apparent heart attack. She was born on April 11, 1952 in Harbor Beach to the late John and Irene (Schulte) Stapleton. Maureen married Lynn Morell on September 27, 1975 at Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach. Maureen was a graduate of Harbor Beach High School. She graduated with honors from the Bay City School of Business. Maureen worked for the State of Michigan Hospital in Pontiac for a few years. She then became employed at the Macomb Courthouse and then later for Phil Woodworth in Bad Axe for a few years. Maureen then went to McKenzie Hospital in Sandusky and became one of their dietary nutritionists for 5 years. Maureen enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing cards, travelling and visiting with beloved family and friends. Maureen was famous for her homemade bread. She never met a person she couldn’t talk to or a cup of coffee she couldn’t drink. She will be truly missed by all those that loved her. Maureen is survived by her husband of 41 years, Lynn of Ubly; four daughters, Jessica (Paul) Schrock of Memomonee Falls, WI, Jill (Jason) Humphrey of Albion, MI, Paula (Mike) Perrotti of New Brunswick, NJ, Gina (Scott) Herford of Vicksburg, MI; three grandchildren, Ella and Sydney Humphrey, Jaxson Schrock; her mother-in-law, Ann Morell of Ubly; her brothers and sisters, Rosalie (Ken) Weiss of Ubly, Ann (Rocky) Wright of Gaylord, Robert (Georgia) Stapleton of Eaton Rapids, Barbara (Warren) Geiger of Harbor Beach, Dean Stapleton of AZ, Deanna (Bill) Wruble of Lousiana; fourteen brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Joyce (John) Swartz, Estelle (Leroy) Atwell, Bernard (Dorothy) Morell, Melvin, (Janice) Morell, Donna (Ray) Lipskey, Maureen Morell, Elaine (Roger) Nading, John (Louise) Morell, Margie (Pat) Ballew, Audrey Morell, Annette (Ron) Mobley, Mark (Anna) Morell, Joe (Tammy) Morell, Lori (Richard) Lasky. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Denny, Tom and Gregory Stapleton; her father-in-law, John Morell. Brother-in-law, Ken Morell. Mass of Christian burial will be 11 am Monday, April 10 at St. Ignatius Church, Good Shepherd Parish, Freiburg. Rev. Charles Hammond, pastor will officiate. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly of Sunday from 2:00-9:00 pm and Monday from 9:30-11:00 am at St. Ignatius Church only. There will be a parish vigil service Sunday evening at 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
