Mrs. Sylvia M. O’Parka, 78 of Waterford, formerly of Minden City, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at University Hospitals in Ann Arbor. She was born on May 2, 1938 at home in Paris Township to the late Theodore and Theresa (Gosdzinski) Wrubel. She married Chester O’Parka Jr. on June 20, 1959 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Parisville. Sylvia was a former parishioner of St. Mary Catholic Church in Parisville where she was also a former member of the St. Mary Rosary Sodality. She was a current parishioner of St. Perpetua in Waterford. Sylvia liked snowmobiling, reading books, gardening and mowing the lawn on the John Deere. She enjoyed playing cards and was an avid game player. Sylvia is survived by hr husband of 57 years, Chester O’Parka Jr. of Waterford; one son, Duane (Sherrie) O’Parka of White Lake; two daughters, Karen (Darren) St. Souver of Saginaw, Debbie O’Parka and her significant other, Ken Booten of Davisburg; five grandchildren, Alycia (Kevin Jankowski) Christa (Dan) Cottrell, Duane O’Parka II, Shelby and Austin St. Souver; several great grandchildren; her two dogs, Tori and Sophie. She was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers, Gertrude Berchulc, Irene Bezemek, Ervin Wrubel, Zigmund Wrubel and Margaret Wrubel. Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 am Tuesday, October 25 at St. Perpetua Catholic Church in Waterford. Rev. Jack Baker, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the All Saints Cemetery in Waterford. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00-7:00 pm and at St. Perpetua Church in Waterford on Tuesday from 10:00-11:00 am. There will be a rosary Sunday afternoon at 4:00 pm by the St. Isidore Rosary Sodality.
