Mr. Ernie E. Peruski, 76 of Lapeer, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at McLaren Lapeer Region Hospital. He was born on September 14, 1939 in Ubly to the late Jacob and Anna (Zulka) Peruski. He married Hilda Carter on July 31, 1993 in Clarkston. Ernie was a graduate of Ubly High School. He worked for the Bukoski car dealership for a few years before moving to Waterford. Ernie was then employed at the Pontiac GM plant for 30 years before retiring in 1995 when he moved to Lapeer. He enjoyed many things in life, including snowmobiling, deer hunting and coaching baseball and basketball for his son's teams. Ernie's true passion was cars, especially his 1967 GTO. He loved restoring it and taking it to car shows where he was awarded Best in Show many times. Ernie had a special place in his heart for his furry friends, Sadie and Sebastian. Ernie is survived by his wife of 23 years, Hilda of Lapeer; two daughters and two sons, Wanda Green and her husband, Gene of Sun Lakes, AZ, Duane and his wife, Cathy of Davisburg, MI, Paula Lowes and her husband, Jeff of Grapevine, TX, Wayne and his wife, Monica of White Lake; one step son and four step daughters, Tracy Carter of Lapeer, Shelly (Javier) Carrillo of Mayville, Teresa Gibson of Waterford, Lisa (Carlos) Gonzalez of Washington, MI, Leslie Warner of Flint; 8 grandchildren, Erika (Blake) Muller, Kristina Peruski, Jamie and Natalie Peruski, Nathen and Jake Lowes, Alexis and Payton Peruski; 12 step grandchildren, Justin, Josh, Alyssa, Jessica, Andrew, Jason, Leah, Ashton, Tommy, Nickalus, Alecia and Alex; 9 great grandchildren. Ernie was preceded in death by one sister, Evelyn Irons; two brothers, Melvin and Raymond Peruski. The funeral service for Ernie will be 12 noon, Saturday, July 30 at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly. Rev. Todd Arnberg, pastor of St. Isidore Parish will officiate. Burial will be in the St. John Cemetery in Ubly. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 am until the service at noon. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be the donor's choice.
