Mrs. Virginia “Jean” Gatza Hollis, 88 of Port Huron and formerly of New Baltimore, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2016 at Marwood Manor Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Port Huron. She was born on October 18, 1933 in Ubly to the late Philip and Katherine (Stelmack) Gatza. She married Richard Hollis on June 12, 1958 in Port Huron.. He preceded her in death on February 26, 1990. Jean attended a country school. She worked and lived in the Port Huron area for years before marrying Richard and moving to New Baltimore in 1960. She worked for Mt. Clemens Pottery for many years before retiring. Virginia enjoyed fishing, animals, Polka music and playing bingo. Jean is survived by many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Cass, Ernie, Marlin and Gerald Gatza; three sisters, Bertha Messing and her husband, Raymond, Rose Mazure and her husband, Henry and Susanne Urban. Mass of Christian burial will be 11 am, Tuesday June 21 at St. Mary Church of St. Isidore Parish in Parisville. Rev. Peter Nwokoye, pastor of Holy Apostle Parish in Ruth, will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Mary Cemetery in Parisville. Visitation will be at St. Mary Church in Parisville Tuesday from 9:00-11:00 am. Memorials have been requested to St. Isidore Parish.
