Mrs. LaVonne Stapleton, 81 of Gagetown, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at McLaren Bay Regional Hospital in Bay City. She was born April 5, 1935 in Bad Axe to the late Earl and Genevieve (Mausolf) Kuntze. She married William Stapleton at St. Agatha Catholic Church in Gagetown. He preceded her in death on April 1, 1973. LaVonne was a graduate of Bad Axe High School. She was a housekeeper at both the Hubbard Hospital in Bad Axe and Hills and Dales Hospital in Cass City for many years. She was a resident of Gagetown for most of her life. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, word searches and reading. LaVonne is survived by two sons, Frank Stapleton of Charlotte and John Stapleton and his wife, Julie Ann of Ubly; four grandchildren, Sarah (Brendon) Rankin, Michael, Breanna and Matthew Stapleton; one sister, Audrey Osentoski of Bad Axe. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Irvine Kuntze and one brother-in-law, Jerry Osentoski. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, June 18 at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly. Rev. William Spencer, pastor of Holy Name of Mary Parish in Harbor Beach will officiate. Burial will be in St. Agatha’s Cemetery in Gagetown. Visitation with LaVonne’s family will be Saturday from 11:00 am until the service at 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
