Mrs. Gloria Darlene Western, 80 of Ubly, passed away Wednesday September 16, 2015 at United Hospice Service of Marlette Regional Hospital in Marlette. Gloria was born on April 26, 1935 at home to the late Frank and Mae Koglin. She married Charles “Chuck” R. Western on December 10, 1955 at the Ubly Presbyterian Church. He preceded her in death July 8, 2005. Gloria was a graduate of Port Hope High School. She worked at Nestle Corporation, the Bad Axe Hospital and finished her career as a cook at the Ubly Community Schools. Gloria loved crafting, watching and listening to sports, going places with her friends and keeping up with her grandchildren. Gloria is survived by two sons, Larry Western of Sandusky, Kenneth (Julie) Western of Croswell; her grandchildren, Tiffini (Dan) Schornack of Harrison Township, Nicholas Western of Harrison Township, Brendan Western of Anoka, Minnesota, Marin Western and Quinlan Western of Croswell; three sisters, Lena Sengstock, Dora Collison, Marlene Martinez all of Port Hope; one brother, Fred Koglin of Port Hope; one sister-in-law, Beatrice (Fred) Soberay of Cass City; many nieces and nephews. Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Chuck”, one sister, Rosenna Kelly; three brothers, Albert, Frank and Alfred Koglin; four sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Cecil and Neveda Allen, Vern and Florence Schrader, Kenneth and Lola Western, June Western. Funeral services for Gloria will be 3:00 pm Saturday, September 19 at the Ubly First Presbyterian Church. Pastor Robert Srock will officiate. Burial will be in the Valley Cemetery in Ubly. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Friday from 1:00-9:00 pm and Saturday from 1:00-3:00 pm at the Ubly First Presbyterian Church. Memorials have been requested to the Ubly First Presbyterian Church, Sleeper Public Library or the United Hospice Service of Marlette.
