Mrs. Eileen B. Maikrzek, 90 of Ubly, passed away Friday, May 22, 2015 at United Hospice of Marlette. She was born on March 25, 1925 in Sheridan Township to the late Jacob and Anna (Leppek) Osentoski. She married Leonard Maikrzek on February 1, 1947 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Ubly. He preceded her in death on March 17, 2010. Eileen attended the Batie Country School and was a 1942 graduate of Cass City High School. She was employed at Reids Drug Store, Brinker Lumber Company and Bowron Implement Dealer of Bad Axe. She was also a wonderful homemaker. Eileen was a parishioner at St. John Catholic Church of Good Shepherd Parish in Ubly where she was a member of the Christian Mothers and past officer. She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella Fidelis Regina Circle #608 of Bad Axe. Eileen held several offices with the TVO Auxiliary Post #1 of Ubly. She worked on the election boards for the county, city and school for over 50 years and served as chairman of all elections. Eileen was a past member of the Bad Axe Moose Lodge and the Rapson Sportsman Club. She was an avid bowler and played on many teams for over 50 years as well as being secretary for several years. Eileen loved dancing and playing cards. She played for several euchre clubs. Eileen is survived by four sons, Richard W. (Rose) Maikrzek of Ubly, Michael J. (Jean) Maikrzek of Troy, Gary L. (Beckie) Maikrzek of Houghton Lake, Kenneth E. (Laurel) Maikrzek of Bad Axe; 6 daughters, Karen A. (Dewey) Lemaster of Louisa, Kentucky, Janet K. Melo of Sarnia, Ontario, Paula J. (Dennis) Romzek of Minden City, Kathy E. (Gary) Rifenbark of Bad Axe, Deborah L. (Bill) Cleland of Bad Axe, Lisa M. (Ken) Kokotovich of Macomb; 25 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; her parents, Jake & Anna Osentoski; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Gertrude Maikrzek; one sister, Maxine Rook; two sisters-in-law, Sally Abraham and Virginia Zagorski; three brothers-in-law, Cass Abraham, Ed Zagorski and Marvin Rook; one son-in-law, Jerry Melo; one niece, Suann (Kagorski) Orban, 4 nephews, David, Mark and Ron Rook, Patrick Zagorski. Mass of Christian burial for Eileen will be 11:00 am Wednesday, May 27 at St. John Catholic Church of Good Shepherd Parish in Ubly. Rev. Charles Hammond, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Tuesday from 2:00-9:00 pm and Wednesday from 9:00-10:00 am. There will be a joint rosary Tuesday afternoon at 4:00 pm by the Daughters of Isabella and the St. John Christian Mothers. There will also be a parish vigil service Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm. Both services will be at the funeral home. Memorials have been requested to the Family Discretionary Fund.
