James "Jimmy" E. Stephenson

Mr. James E. “Jimmy” Stephenson, 70 of Bad Axe, passed away on November 2, 2014 unexpectedly at his residence. James was born on April 16, 1944 in Bad Axe to the late Gerald and Doris May (Edwards) Stephenson. He married Mary Barbara Oswald on May 21, 1977 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. She preceded him in death on December 29, 2005. James attended the Bad Axe Elementary School. He enjoyed farming and drove a milk truck. In 1962 he became employed at Active Industries in Elkton and retired in 2005. He was a parishioner at Sacred Heart Church of St. Hubert Parish in Bad Axe. James enjoyed lunch at the stockyards, walks in the woods and visiting with family and friends. James is survived by two sons, Brian Stephenson and his wife, Kelly of Dewitt and John Stephenson of Marysville, Ohio; two granddaughters, Isabelle and Sara Stephenson; two brothers, Gerald Stephenson and his wife, Rosemary of Flat Rock, Indiana, George Stephenson and his wife, Betty of Elkton; two sisters, Mary Stephenson and Violet Morrison, both of Bad Axe; many nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by and infant son, Eric, one grandson, Isaiah Stephenson, one sister, Betty Appleton; two brothers-in-law, Howard Morrison and Clifford Appleton. A memorial service for James will be 3:00 pm Wednesday, November 5 at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly. Visitation with James’ family will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 pm and Wednesday from 1:00 pm until the service at 3:00 pm. Memorials have been requested to the Family Discretionary Fund.
