Mr. George T. Essenmacher, 72 of Birch Run, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at his residence. George was born on January 17, 1942 in Dearborn to the late George H. and Agnes (Koss) Essenmacher. He married Josephine Rutkowski on September 18, 1965 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Parisville. George was a graduate of Our Lady of Lake Huron High School. He enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in Germany for over two and a half years before he was honorably discharged. George worked for the Buick Motor Division of General Motors for over 44 years before retiring in 2009. George is survived by his wife of over 48 years, Josephine Essenmacher of Birch Run; six children, Craig Essenmacher of Westland, Ronald Essenmacher and his wife, Robin of Matthews, NC, Rhonda Aldrich and her husband, Todd of Perrinton, Keith Essenmacher of Rockford, Cynthia Essenmacher and Joseph King, of Okemos, Celeste Essenmacher of West Bloomfield; six grandchildren, Ryan, Maggie, Jack, Carson, Kayla and Ethan; his brothers and sisters, Julie Messing and her husband, Gordon of Carsonville, Virginia Sadro of Rapson, John Essenmacher and his wife, Nina of Armada, James Essenmacher and his wife, Viola of Imlay City, Janet Lemanski of Ruth, Cheryl Essenmacher of Metro Detroit, Bruce Essenmacher and his wife, Linda of Harbor Beach, Steve Essenmacher of Metro Detroit. Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 am Monday, July 28 at St. Mary Church of St. Isidore Parish in Parisville. Rev. Todd Arnberg, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Sunday from 1:30-9:00 pm and Monday from 10:00-11:00 am at the church only. There will be a parish vigil service Sunday evening at 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
