Geraldine Mae (Suida) Zinger, 91, of Ruth, died on Monday evening, May 5, 2014 at Heritage Hill Assisted Living Facility in Caro.She was born May 3, 1923 in Harbor Beach, MI to David and Susie (Olshove) Suida. She was a graduate of Harbor Beach High School and Cleary School of Business, Ypsilanti, MI. She married Leo G. Zinger on November 24, 1944 at Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic church in Harbor Beach. They celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary before Leo’s death in June, 2006. Geraldine was on the Board of Directors of Ruth State Bank for 43 years from 1971 to the present. She worked at the bank for thirty years alongside her husband, Leo from 1966 until she retired in 1996. They took great joy in each other’s company and were happiest together on the golf course, the dance floor, and at their winter residence in North Fort Myers , FL. Gerry was a parishioner at Holy Apostle Parish, Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ruth, where she was a member of the Christian Mothers. She was a member of the Verona Hills Country Club and enjoyed playing cards and traveling to various banking functions with Leo across the U.S. One of Gerry’s true passions in life was her hunger for knowledge of nutritional supplements and their holistic benefits. She was proud to be a true nutritional supplement aficionado. Gerry is survived by her five loving children, Douglas, Naperville, IL, David, Denver, CO, Paul, Flint, MI, Judy Zinger-Weiss (Marvin Weiss), San Diego, CA, and Joseph (Julie), Caro, MI. Eight grandchildren: Elizabeth Zinger (Chris Stockner), Portland, OR, Heather Zinger, Fargo, ND, Laura Zinger, Chicago, IL, Emily Weiss, San Diego, CA, Max Weiss, Encinitas, CA, Megan Zinger, Jenison, MI, Kristin (Jason) Roggenbuck, Harbor Beach, and John Zinger, Ubly; four great-grandchildren, Zoey Zinger, Mirabel and Piper Stockner, all of Portland, OR and Connor Roggenbuck, Harbor Beach; three sisters: Marjorie Wruble, Evelyn (James “Red”) Branch and Betty Bright; one sister-in-law, Eleanor Zinger. She was preceded in death by her sister, Marion Wolford.The Family also wished to express their thanks to the wonderful staff at Heritage Hill Assisted Living.Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 am Saturday, May 10 at Holy Apostle Parish, Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ruth. Rev. Peter Nwokoye, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly, on Friday from 1:00-8:00 pm and Saturday from 9:00-10:00 am at the church only. There will be a Christian Mothers rosary Friday afternoon at 4:00 pm and a parish Vigil service at 7:00 pm. Both services will be at the funeral home.
