Mrs. Georgeann T. Booms, 78 of Ubly and formerly of Minden City, passed away Saturday afternoon, April 19, 2014 at the Huron County Medical Care Facility. She was born on May 27, 1935 in Minden City to the late George and Agnes (Messing) Hessling. She married Gerald Booms on June 11, 1955 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ruth. Georgeann was a graduate of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic School in Ruth. She worked on the family farm and was a bus driver for 37 years. She enjoyed trips to Branson, MO with her husband. She enjoyed quilting lap blankets for the area long term care facilities. She also enjoyed gardening and playing euchre. Georgeann truly cherished her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Georgeann is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Gerald of Ubly; 7 children, Deborah Essenmacher and her husband, Ernie of Minden City, Karen Guza and her husband, Ron of Harbor Beach, Gerald Jr. “Jerry” of Harbor Beach, Barbara Bensinger of Ubly, Donald and his wife, Lisa of Ames, Iowa, Joseph and his wife, Nancy of Ubly, Randy and his wife, Lisa of Brown City; 25 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Noble of West Branch and Marilyn Roberts and her husband, Ray of Port Huron; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marjorie and Ed Messing of Minden City, Sister Evelyn Booms of Monroe, Joann Ginther of Bad Axe, Charles and Georgene Booms and of Pueblo, Colo. Dennis and Joan Booms of Wisc., Harry and Verna Booms of Harbor Beach, Bill and Diane Messing of Minden City. Georgeann was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Susan Booms, one great grandson, Mason Booms,; one brother-in-law, Gene Noble, one sister-in-law, Sheila Messing. Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 am Wednesday, April 23 at St. Isidore Parish, St. Mary Catholic Church in Parisville. Rev. Todd Arnberg, pastor of St. Isidore and Rev. Charles Hammond, pastor of Good Shepherd Parish in Ubly, will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski funeral Home in Ubly on Tuesday from 1:30-9:00 pm and Wednesday from 10:00-11:00 am at St. Mary Church only. There will be a joint rosary Tuesday afternoon at 4 p.m. by the St. Isidore Men’s Club and Rosary Sodality at the funeral home.
