Mr. Sylvester J. Bukoski, 94 of Ubly, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe. He was born on January 1, 1920 in Ubly, son of the late Vincent and Agnes (Peruski) Bukoski. He married Bernice Wroubel on September 25, 1943 at Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach. She preceded him in death on August 1, 2001. Sylvester was a graduate of a country school and worked on the family farm. He was employed at both the Tyre and Gagetown Elevators for many years before he retired in 1979. He enjoyed hunting, cutting wood and listening to the Detroit Tigers on the radio. He enjoyed visiting with people, but the most cherished time was with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Sylvester is survived by one son, James Bukoski and his wife, Doreen of Caro; two daughters, Carol Sharbowski and her husband, Melvin of Palms, Deborah Schmidt of Ubly; 8 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; one brother, Lawrence Bukoski and his wife, Marlene of Ubly; four sisters, Eleanor Paszkowski of Warren, Betty Ward of Millington, Marie Wasierski of Ubly and Lillian Wojtas of Warren; one sister-in-law, Joeva Bukoski of Ubly. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Raymond, John T., Melvin and Harry Bukoski; one son-in-law, Harry Schmidt; four sisters-in-law, Mildred Bukoski, Beatrice Bukoski, Bertha Bukoski and Margaret Bukoski; four brothers-in-law, Chester Paszkowski, Sylvester Wasierski, Robert Wojtas and George Ward. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am Saturday, February 22 at St. John Church, Good Shepherd Parish in Ubly. Rev. Todd Arnberg, pastor of St. Isidore Parish in Parisville, will officiate. Burial will be in the St. John Cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Friday from 2-9 pm and Saturday from 10-11 am at church only. There will be a parish vigil service Friday evening at 7:30 pm at the funeral home. Memorials are requested to the Family Discretionary Fund.
