Frances C. Tschirhart, 96 of Bad Axe, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe with her children by her side. She was born on December 27, 1916 in Minden City to the late Anthony and Frances (Vogel) Heilig. She married Herbert Jacob Tschirhart on April 15, 1936 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ruth. He preceded her in death on April 27, 1991. Frances attended the Kelly School in Delaware Twp. and was a graduate of the Minden City High School. She was an Avon lady for many years in Harbor Beach, Ruth and Mt. Clemens. She was a current parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. Frances was a former parishioner at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ruth where she was a former member of the Christian Mothers. Frances enjoyed Tiger baseball, word find puzzles, reading, flowers, gardening and playing cards. Frances is survived by her two children, Kathryn (Kay) Sweeney of Ubly and Richard (Beatrice) Tschirhart of Berkley; 11 grandchildren, David (Michelle) Tschirhart, Michael (Amy) Tschirhart, Stephen (Anna) Tschirhart, Susan (Matthew) Breda, Richard Tschirhart, Douglas (Elizabeth) Sweeney, Mary Kay (Daniel) Ritter, Bruce Sweeney, Sally (Patrick) Bell, Eric (Heidi) Sweeney, Wayne (Kate) Sweeney; 22 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, James A. Sweeney, two brothers, Frank and Anthony Heilig, two sisters, Leona Gleason and Mary Zinger. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am Monday, September 23 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. Rev. Robert J. Howe, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Ruth. Visitation will be at Sacred Heart Church on Monday from 9:00-11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been requested to the Shared Blessings Food Pantry or Courtney Manor Activities Fund, both in Bad Axe.
