Mrs. Grace Puvalowski, 93 of Ubly, passed away Friday, September 6, 2013 at the Willow Tree Haven Retirement/AFC Home in Gagetown. She was born on May 31, 1920 in Ubly to the late Albert and Mary (Pollum) Grifka. She married Raymond V. Puvalowski on April 27, 1940 at St. John Catholic Church in Ubly. They had the honor of being the first couple to get married in the existing church. He preceded her in death on August 24, 1998. Grace was an 8th grade graduate of a country school. She truly enjoyed being married and working on the farm with her husband, Raymond and her children. In her younger years, Grace loved to go dancing with her husband and they glided across many dance floors in the area. Grace was a woman of strong faith and was a lifelong parishioner at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Ubly. She was a former active member and a current honorary member of the St. John Christian Mothers, Circle No.4, Queen of Angels. She enjoyed bowling and playing cards. Grace loved her family and cherished spending time with each and every one of them. Grave is survived by two sons, Ronald Puvalowski and his wife, Nola of Lake Orion, Robert Puvalowski and his wife, Kathryn of Ubly; two daughters, Doty Glaza and her husband, Larry of Ubly, Karen Mausolf and her husband, Steve of New Hudson; 16 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren one sister, Merrie Watchowski of Sand Point; 2 sisters-in-law, Frances Grifka of Ubly, Irene Wozniak of Harbor Beach; one brother-in-law, Aloise Puvalowski of Ubly. She was preceded in death by one son, Gary Puvalowski, two infant daughters, Gloria and Marian Puvalowski; one grandson, Gregory Puvalowski, 12 brothers, Marshall, Mike, Stanley, August, Albert, Enoch, Henry, Robert, Martin, Leo, Harry and Clarence Grifka; three sisters, Bertha Osentoski, Clara Wonsowicz and Lucy Pilch; one brother-in-law, Leonard Watchowski; two sisters-in-law, Clare Grifka and Jeanette Grifka. Mass of Christian burial will be 11 am Tuesday, September 10 at Good Shepherd Parish, St. John Church in Ubly. Rev. Charles Hammond, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Sunday from 6:00-9:00 pm, Monday from 2:00-9:00 pm and Tuesday from 10:00-11:00 am at St. John Church. There will be a Christian Mothers Rosary Sunday evening at 7 pm and a parish vigil service Monday evening at 7 pm. Both services will be at the funeral home.
