Mrs. Dollene Reder, “Plant Lady”, 70 of Bad Axe, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at her residence under hospice care after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on July 13, 1943 in Warren to Edna (Lemanski) Jaskowski and the late Frank Jaskowski. She married Thomas L. Reder on December 28, 2002 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. Dollene attended St. Mary Catholic Elementary School in Parisville. She was a 1961 graduate of Ubly High School. Shortly after high school, she was employed at the Ruth Elevator as a bookkeeper. After the birth of her children, Dollene became a full time mother and homemaker. Dollene loved spending time in her yard growing flowers and plants. She also enjoyed polka music, dancing, playing Scrabble and working on crafts. She truly enjoyed time with her family. Dollene is survived by her husband, Thomas L. Reder of Bad Axe; her mother, Edna Jaskowski of Harbor Beach; one son, Chris W. Staroska of Parisville; one daughter, Jennifer (Ed) Staroska McCoy of Wheat Ridge, CO; one grandson, Roman Staroska McCoy; one granddaughter, Jenny McCoy of Tulsa, OK; one step-daughter, Becky (Larry) Chronowski of Midland and their children Alec and Evan; two step sons, Edward (Katy) Reder of Belville, IL and their children, Bridget, Stephanie and Rachael, Marty (Amanda) Reder of Auburn and their children, Sylys and Jacob. She was preceded in death by her brother Danny Jaskowski and an infant sister, Sherry. A memorial Mass will be 11 am Friday, July 26 at St. Hubert Parish, Sacred Heart Church of Bad Axe. Rev. Robert Howe, pastor, will officiate. Visitation with Dollene’s family will be from 10-11 am Friday at Sacred Heart Church in Bad Axe. In Lieu of flowers and in honor of Dollene’s battle, her family has requested memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
