Floyd H. Holdwick, 56, owner of Holdwick Construction of Ruth, passed away unexpectedly on June 27, 2013 at his residence. He was born on August 6, 1956 in Harbor Beach to Joseph and Lorraine (Kranz) Holdwick. Floyd graduated from Sts. Peter & Paul Elementary School and was a 1974 graduate of Ubly High School. He worked at Chinoski Construction for four years. Floyd then became a certified licensed builder and started his own construction company, Holdwick Construction in 1979. He enjoyed playing softball for various teams in his younger years. Floyd was a life long parishioner at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ruth where he was a current member of the Ruth Knights of Columbus Council #3823. He enjoyed playing cards, the Detroit Tigers and visiting with friends. Floyd was a loving caring man who always strived to please everyone. Floyd is survived by his parents, Joseph and Lorraine Holdwick of Ruth; his special friend, Laura Goetze of Harbor Beach; ten brothers and sisters, Ronald J. Holdwick and his wife, Jo Ann of St. Peters, MO, Kathleen A. Weller and her husband, Richard of St. Johns, Diane L. Pollum and her husband, Alvin of Ubly, Douglas W. Holdwick of Allenton, Lori M. Stern of Colonial Heights, VA, Bruce J. Holdwick and special friend, Shelly Warren of Grand Blanc, Sharon S. Simons and her husband, Steve of Grand Ledge, Karen M. Roys and her husband, Craig of Imlay City, Kevin Holdwick of Lansing, Marsha L. Blasen and her husband, Gary of Portage; 14 nieces and nephews; 4 uncles and 4 aunts. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, July 1 at 11 am at Holy Apostles Parish, Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Ruth. Rev. Peter Nwokoye, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Sunday from 1:30-9:00 pm and Monday from 10:00-11:00 am at the church only. There will be a parish vigil service Sunday evening at 7 pm and a Knights of Columbus rosary at 8 pm. Both services will be at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been requested to Holy Apostle Parish, Sts. Peter & Paul Church.
