Mellissa Brandow, 84 of Harbor Beach, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013 at her home. She was born on April 28, 1929 in Sherman Township to the late Edwin and Mellissa (Anderson) Dore. She married Walter Brandow Jr. on April 30, 1955. He preceded her in death on January 19, 1976. Mellissa was a great mom and best friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She enjoyed puzzles, cross word puzzles, cooking, baking gardening and playing bingo. She truly loved family gatherings, taking long drives around the countryside with her children and spending time with her grandchildren and family pets. Mellissa is survived by 5 sons, Randy (Darlene) Brandow of Sandusky, Rick (Julie) Brandow of Harbor Beach, Walter Brandow of Centerburg, Ohio, Allen (Debbie) Brandow of Harbor Beach, Jerry Brandow of North Vernon, Indiana; four daughters, Mary Brandow and Robert of Harbor Beach, Wanda Wilber of Harbor Beach, Joanne Mitchell and Ronnie of North Vernon, Indiana, Vickie (Kevin) Humphrey of North Vernon, Indiana; 29 grandchildren, Karen (Brad) Peyerk, Arthur, Deborah (Gary) Bailey, Mandy (Jeff) Mrazek, Barbara (Kevin) Dekoski, Paula (Donnie) Clark, Billy Jean (Derric) Arnold, Dennis, Vickie, Robert, Mellissa, Devin, Chris, Mike, Brittany, Sarah, Jennifer & John, Mike (Bonnie) Melnik, Jason, Jenna, Lenny, Jessica, Steven, Tony, Christina, Tiffany, Kenny, Duane, April, & Lisa; 25 great grandchildren, Bradley, Shaun, Makayla, Jessi, Mikie, Ashely, Chase, Chancelor, Kayleen, Loren, Alisha, Chad, Sasha, Jasmine, Sierra, Angelina, Cody, Tucker, Addy, Greyson, Korah, Alyssa, Carter & Peyton; one sister, Faye Braun of Ruth. Mellissa was preceded in death by her sister, Barb Klee, brother, Bert Dore, son-in-law, Chuck Wilbur. The funeral service will be 10 am, Thursday, May 30 at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly. Rev. Mark Ryan, of Harbor Beach will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-9 pm and Thursday from 9-10 am. Memorials are requested to the Family Discretionary Fund or the donor’s choice.
