Stanley J Rutkowski

Stanley J. Rutkowski, Sr, 77 of Ubly, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 24, 1935 on the family farm in Paris Township to the late Frank and Rose (Helewski) Rutkowski. He married Marilyn Miklasz on July 14, 1962 at St. John Catholic Church in Ubly. Stanley attended the McMillan School and St. Mary’s Catholic School in Parisville for his elementary education. He was a 1954 graduate of Ubly High School. He served as a mechanic in the US Army from 1958-1960 while stationed in Augsburg, Germany. Stanley was self-employed for 43 years as a refrigeration contractor. He drove bus for a short time for St. Mary’s School in Parisville and was a substitute driver for the Ubly Community School. Stanley also farmed and was a foreman at the Carmet Company in Bad Axe during the 1960’s. Stanley was a talented repairman and could fix anything. He had an inventive mind and could engineer whatever he needed. His many interests included carpentry, woodworking, hunting and playing euchre. He loved telling stories and wasn’t above playing an occasional practical joke. Stanley enjoyed history, especially genealogy. His true passion is life was spending time with his loving family. Stanley is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Marilyn of Ubly; children, Jackie (Steve) Gracey of Ubly, Judy (Greg) Osentoski of Ubly and Stan Jr. of Parisville; grandchildren, Branden (Kim) Osentoski, Tyler Osentoski and Kady Osentoski, all of Ubly; brother, Hank (Sally) Rutkowski of Port Huron; sisters, Ann Essenmacher of Bad Axe, Theresa Moceri of Livonia, Janet (Earl) Roberts of Ubly, Christine (Ken) Roggenbuck of Harbor Beach; sister-in-law, Mary Jo Miklasz of Chicago. He was preceded in death by an infant son; his parents, Frank and Rose Rutkowski, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edward and Elizabeth Miklasz; sisters, Marie Essenmacher, Virginia Rutkowski, Bernadette Rutkowski; brothers-in-law, Richard Essenmacher, Joe Moceri, James Essenmacher and Ed Miklasz Jr. Mass of Christian burial will be 10 am Saturday, May 25 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Parisville. Rev. Andy Booms, pastor of St. Michael Catholic Church in Port Austin will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Friday from 2-9 pm and Saturday from 9-10 am at the church only. There will a parish vigil service Friday evening at 7 pm at the funeral home. Memorials are requested to the Bingham Township Ambulance, Sleeper Public Library or the Ubly T.V.O.
