Gloria M. McCoy

Mrs. Gloria M. McCoy, 90 of Minden City, passed away Tuesday morning, April 9, 2013 surrounded by her family at her home while under hospice care. Gloria was born on January 30, 1923 in Detroit to the late Herbert P and Magdalene (Cook) Schock. She married Joseph L. McCoy on December 21, 1940 at St. Mary Cathedral in Saginaw. Gloria was a graduate of Deckerville High School. She was a lifelong parishioner at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ruth where she was a member of the Christian Mothers. Gloria was an accomplished pianist and avid bowler. She loved to travel, read and play euchre and Scrabble. She was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers and she never missed a game. Gloria truly enjoyed spending time with her beloved family. Gloria is survived by her husband of 72 years, Joseph L. McCoy of Minden City; 11 children, John H. McCoy of Harbor Beach, Deanna Jo Lautner of Madison Heights, Joseph W (Cindy) McCoy of Harbor Beach, Steven J. (Sarah) McCoy of Chicago, Mary Louise (Paul) Buckham of Alexandria, LA, Alan G. (Esther) McCoy of Oak Park, Paul L. (Mary Anne) McCoy Bloomfield Hills, Timothy M. McCoy and Tracy LaHair of Filion, Terri (Arthur) Trese of Athens, Ohio, Mark J. (Elaine) McCoy of Loxahatchee, Fla., Lauri (Randy) Halifax of Minden City; 39 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; one brother, Herbert J. (Francine) Schock of Sedona, Ariz. She was preceded by an infant daughter, Melissa. Mass of Christian burial will be 2:00 pm Thursday, April 11 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ruth. Rev. Peter Nwokoye, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the Smigielski Funeral Home on Cass Ave in Minden City on Thursday from 10-30-1:00 pm. There will be a Christian Mothers rosary Thursday afternoon preceding mass at Sts. Peter and Paul Church. Memorials are requested to the Family Discretionary Fund.
