Mrs. Jean M. LaBuhn, 90 of Bad Axe passed away Sunday, October 14, 2012 at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe. She was born on October 17, 1921 as Rose Sarka in Caspian to the late Frank and Terezij (Varga) Sarka. Jean and her twin brother Joseph were adopted in 1928 by Martin and Mary (Porsche-Kolberg) Wolschlager. They preceded her in death. She married Joseph P. LaBuhn on October 18, 1952 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe. He preceded her in death on August 4, 1986. Jean attended a catholic school in Bad Axe until the ninth grade when she started to work on the family farm. As a teenager, she ran her own milk route until 1967 when she returned to the family farm to work until 1992. She enjoyed canning, touring Huron County and enjoying the sites, crossword and word search puzzles. Jean is survived by two sons, Joseph W. LaBuhn and William (Susan) LaBuhn, both of Bad Axe; 3 grandchildren, Eugene (Lis Randall) Kady of Gagetown, Jeremy (Jessica) Kady of Millington, Kayla (Drew Miros) Kady of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; two great grandchildren, Colten and Braylon Kady; two sisters-in-law, Adlene Hopkins of West Branch and Rose LaBuhn of Bad Axe; one foster brother, Bill (Wyllo) Rogowski of Bad Axe; several nieces and nephews. She as preceded by four brothers, Steve Wolschlager, John Wolschlager, Joseph Sarka Wolschlager and Tom Wolschlager; four sisters, Ann, Catherine, Betty and Mary; one foster brother, Carl Kolberg. The funeral service will be 12 noon Wednesday, October 17 at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly. Rev. Joseph Griffin, pastor of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Ubly, will officiate. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2-9 pm and Wednesday from 11-12 noon.
