Viola Edna Glaza

Mrs. Viola Edna Glaza, 92 of Ubly, passed away Wednesday morning, October 10, 2012 at Courtney Manor of Bad Axe. She was born on February 13, 1920 in Detroit to the late Louis and Catherine (Pionk) Bukoski. She moved to the Thumb in the mid 1930’s. She married Edward I. Glaza on June 5, 1943 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Ubly. He preceded her in death on October 11, 2008. Edna was a lifelong parishioner at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and lifelong member of St. John Christian Mothers. In her early years she enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, playing cards and traveling. Edna is survived by her children, Vernon Glaza and his wife, Dianne of Ubly, Kay Bukoski of Millington, Frank Glaza of Cass City, William Glaza and his wife, Betty of Ubly, Theresa Murdock and her husband, Steve of Ubly; 10 grandchildren, Barbara (Doug) Kane, E.J. Glaza, Jeff (Tammy) Bukoski, Colleen Bukoski, Scott (Nancy) Bukoski, Greg (Tonya) Bukoski, Brad Glaza, Bryan Glaza, Patrick Murdock, Megan Murdock; 8 great grandchildren, Cadeja Kane, LaQuasha Kane, Josh Bukoski, Paul Bukoski, Ana Bukoski, Cassie Bukoski, Emily Bukoski, Ian Bukoski; 6 sisters-in-law, Doris and Gertrude Glaza, both of Ubly, Margaret Chinoski of Parisville, Delores Dapkus of Plymouth, Genevieve (Ronald) Gorang of Modesto, Calif., Olave Bukoski of Ubly; one brother-in-law, John Antos of Utica. Edna was preceded in death by one son-in-law, LaVern Bukoski; three sisters, Evelyn Allen, Leona Bukoski and Dorothy Bukoski; three brothers, Robert, Ervin & Alfred Bukoski; step mother, Pauline Bukoski; In-laws, Robert Allen, Stanley Glaza, John Glaza, Susan Deachin, Mildred Antos, Robert Deachin, Reynold Tschirhart, Clarence Michalski, Ambrose Chinoski, Felix Dapkus. Mass of Christian burial will be 11 am Saturday, October 13 at St. John Catholic Church in Ubly. Rev. Peter Nwokoye, pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ruth, will officiate. Burial will be in the St. John Cemetery in Ubly. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Friday from 2-9 pm and Saturday from 10-11 am at the church only. There will be a Christian Mothers rosary at 4 pm Friday and a parish vigil service at 7 pm. Both services will be at the funeral home. Memorials have been requested to St. John Parish or the donor’s choice.
