Karen R. Studer, 68 of Palms, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2012 at Autumnwood of Deckerville after a long illness. She was born on August 15, 1944 in Highland Park to the late Ellsworth and Pearl (Pellow) Quarters. She married William Studer on March 28, 1964 in Hazel Park. Karen was a graduate of Hazel Park High School. She worked as a bookkeeper for H.J. Purdy & Co. Hydraulics Company. She was a former parishioner at St. Mary Magdalene Parish. Karen raised four children with her husband while working the family business. She and William moved to Palms in 1982. She worked at Rick’s and Foster’s Bar, both of Forestville. She was a current parishioner at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Palms. She enjoyed bowling, playing bingo, cooking, needlework and visiting with her family. Karen is survived by her husband of 48 years, William of Palms; three daughters, Lisa (John) Flood , Wendy (Mitchell) Smith, and Heather (Rodney) Franzel, all of Deckerville; 8 grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; one brother, Ronald (Janice) Quarters of Auburn Hills. Karen was preceded in death her son, William Studer Jr.; one step grandson, Cory Block. The funeral will be 11 am Thursday, August 30 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Palms. Rev. Peter Nwokoye, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the Snay Cemetery in Palms. Visitation will be at the Smigielski Funeral Home on Cass Ave in Minden City on Wednesday from 1:30-9 pm. and Thursday from 10-11 am at the church only.
