Mrs. Leona Marie Lemanski, 91 of Harbor Beach, passed away Wednesday August 22, 2012 at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe with her family by her side. She was born on September 13, 1920 in Harbor Beach to the late Frank and Mary (Klama) Peyerk. She married Fabian Lemanski on September 4, 1938 at St. Joseph Catholic church in Rapson. He preceded her in death on November 4, 2003. Leona was a graduate of a country school. She worked as an assembler at Hamill Manufacturing in Bad Axe. She was a parishioner at Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach where she was a former member of the Altar Society. She was also a former member of the Daughter’s of Isabella Fidelis Regina Circle # 608. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Leona is survived by four daughters, Virginia (Richard) Gentner of Cass City, Shirley Guza of Ubly, Marjorie (Dan) Booms of Harbor Beach, Betty (Carl) Durr of Bad Axe; one son, Randy (Sue) Lemanski of Harbor Beach; 22 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Genevieve Peyerk of Rapson. She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Dan Booms Jr. and Scott Booms; one son-in-law, Cletus Guza, 6 brothers, Ray, Joseph, Edward, Frank, Julius and Anthony Peyerk, three sisters, Anastasia “Stazy” Goniwiecha, Theresa Weymouth and Anna Wruble. Mass of Christian burial will be 11 am Monday, August 27 at Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach. Rev. William Spencer, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Sunday from 1:30-9:00 pm and Monday from 9:00 to 10:00 am. There will be a rosary Sunday evening at 7 pm at the funeral home. Memorials have been requested to the Bad Axe Food Pantries.
