Mrs. Doris Ann Roberts, 67 of Harbor Beach, passed away, Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Brian’s House in Bay City. She was born on August 31, 1944 in Sherman Township to the late William and Anna (Emming) Volmering. She married Bernard Roberts on July 13, 1963 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ruth. He preceded her in death on June 23, 2010. Doris was a graduate of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic High School. She was a parishioner at Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach for 49 years. She loved to take care of her husband of 47 years and her beloved family. Doris and Bernard grew pumpkins and sweet corn for many years. She enjoyed cooking and gardening. Doris is survived by her children, Karen (Jack) Jensen of Pigeon, Kathy (Gary) Bauer of Charlotte, Kari (Ed) Tucker of Frankenmuth, Bernie Jr (Jennifer) of Ruth; 4 grandchildren, Ben & Owen Tucker, Nathan and Jacob Bauer; one brother, Jerome (Eileen) Volmering of Harbor Beach; one sister, Lorraine (Stanley) Peruski of Ubly; in-laws, Leona Roberts of Harbor Beach, Dian Volmering of Harbor Beach, Jackie Volmering of Ruth, Shirley Booms of Harbor Beach, Bernice Messing of Peck, June Pawlowski of Harbor Beach, Joyce Pleiness of Port Hope, Agnes (Joe) Petruck of Arkansas, Gladys (Joe) Page of Davison. She was preceded in death by one infant son Robert Paul in 1965, two brothers, Eugene and Raymond Volmering, five sisters-in-law, Carol Volmering, Mary (Richard) Hartman, Anna Winkel, Genevieve Dahlke, Rosie Anstett; seven brothers-in-law, James, Vincent and Jerome Roberts, Zig Talaski, Harold Pleiness, Mark Messing and Al Pawlowski. Mass of Christian burial will be 11 am Tuesday, August 14 at Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach, Rev. William Spencer, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Ruth. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Monday from 1:00-9:00 pm and Tuesday from 10:00-11:00 am at the church only. There will be a parish vigil service on Monday evening at 7 pm at the funeral home. Memorials have been requested to Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic School.
