Mr. William “Bill” S. Grekowicz, 86 of Ubly, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at home with his family by his side while under hospice care. William was born on December 31, 1925 in Harbor Beach to the late Frank and Lucy (Cook) Grekowicz. He married Colette Mausolf on May 30, 1947 at Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach. Bill attended Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic School in Harbor Beach. He served in WWII in the US Navy. He was a retired Ford dealer, co-owner and operator of Ubly Motor Sales in Ubly for over 30 years. He was a parishioner at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Ubly for 65 years where he served as an usher. He was a member of the Thumb Veterans Organization, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Ubly Fox Hunters. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking and antique car restoration. Bill is survived by his wife of 65 years, Colette of Ubly; four sons, Douglas and his wife, Marilyn of Bay City, Randy and his wife, Fia of Bothell, WA, Gerald and his wife, Mary Clor of Rising Fawn, GA, Thomas and his wife, Jodi of Lake Orion; four daughters, Connie Grekowicz of Columbus, Ohio, Carol Colotti and husband Michael of Boxford, MA, Luann Thompson and husband, retired Col. Eugene Thompson of Rose City, Denise Puvalowski and husband, Claude of Ruth; 21 grandchildren, Eric (Rachel) Grekowicz, Leah (Steven) Rogers, Kelly (David) Ammann, Barbara (Darrin) Siemen, Jennifer Grekowicz, Ryan & Chris Grekowicz, Lisa (Anthony) Smith, Julie (Nathaniel Katz) Colotti, Michael (Lindsey) Colotti, Eugene Jr., Kathleen and Joseph Thompson; Jessica (Jason) Parsons, Kristen (Frank) Richard, Tracy and Jackie Puvalowski, Laura (Jason) Williams, Jared Puvalowski, Aaron & Austen Grekowicz; one step-grandchild, Alexandria Holley; 23 great grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret “Midge” (James) Fain of Glendale, Ariz., Aileen Graff of Grosse Pointe Park, Georgene (Joel) Gorzen of Glendale, Ariz. Bill was preceded in death by five sisters, Mildred Smith, Esther McLean, Ellen Young, Sister Theresa Grekowicz, Sister Gracelia Grekowicz; two brothers, John and Joseph Grekowicz. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am, Friday, June 8 at St. John Catholic Church in Ubly. Rev. Donald Eppenbrock will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Thursday from 2-8 pm and Friday from 10-11 am at the church only. There will be a parish vigil service Thursday evening at 7 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been requested to United Hospice of Marlette or St. John Religious Education Fund.
