Donald J. Janowiak

Mr. Donald J. Janowiak, 61 of Ubly, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at his residence in Ubly. Don was born on March 21, 1950 to the late Arthur and Sylvia (Osantowski) Janowiak. He married Barbara Mosey on April 15, 2003 in Bad Axe. Don was a 1968 graduate of Ubly high school and Auto Mechanic school in Chicago. He was a truck driver for three years. He served as a volunteer fireman for many years with Bingham Township. He worked for McCormick Motors of Pigeon from 1982 until 2012. Don was a parishioner of St. John Catholic Church of Ubly. He enjoyed fixing cars and auto racing at drag strips in Norwalk, Ohio and Ubly Dragway for many years. Don is survived by his wife Barbara of Ubly. One son, Richard Haas of Arkansas; three sisters, Sandra (Phil) Robinson of Cass City, Shirley Parks of Holly, Jane (Doug) Ogozaly of Ubly; one brother Dennis (Linda) Janowiak of Ubly; six aunts, Marie Oleksiak of Ann Arbor, Madeline Janowiak of Livonia, Beatrice (George) Prange of Warren, Christine (John) Ulfig of Sandusky, Grace (Jack) Willis of Pt. Sanilac, Olave Bukoski of Ubly; one uncle, Herbert (Bernie) Janowiak of Bad Axe; many nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Audrey in 1942, one son Andy Haas in 2004 and one brother-in-law Earl Parks. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 pm Saturday, February 25, 2012 at St. John Catholic Church in Ubly. Rev. Joseph Griffin, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Friday from 2-9 pm and on Saturday at the church only from 12 noon until the mass at 1 pm. There will be a parish vigil service at 7:30 pm Friday at the funeral home.
