. Mary Ann Walsh, 72 of Ubly, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2011at her residence under hospice care. Mary Ann was born on October 15, 1938 in Cass City, to the late Dewitt and Mary (Guigar) Hunt. She married John “Don” Walsh on September 14, 1963 in Detroit. He preceded her in death on March 31, 2010. She attended Ubly High School. She worked as a domestic at a commercial cleaning establishment in Detroit for 11 years before moving to Freiburg in 1973. She worked at Lyntex for 27 years. She was a parishioner at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Freiburg. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, traveling and word finds. Mary Ann is survived by four sons, Robert “Bob” Walsh of Punta Gorda, Fla., Raymond P. Szukala of Sterling Heights, Gregory T. Szukala of Ubly, John D. Walsh and his wife, Heidi, of Ubly; one granddaughter, Arielle Walsh of Ubly; four grandsons, Keith Szukala, and his wife, Jennifer of Lapeer, Gary Szukala and his wife, Elisha, of Kansas City, MO, Troy Walsh of Fla., Orion Walsh of Ubly; three great grandsons; four great granddaughters; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Calvin, Harold, Duane & Gerald Hunt; two sisters, Marie Sherman and Joyce Schmidt. Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, August 27 at 11 a.m. at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Freiburg. Rev. Joseph Griffin, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Friday from 1-9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 -11 a.m. at the church only.
