Marvin F. Tschirhart

Marvin F. Tschirhart, 88 of Ubly, passed away Thursday evening, June 30, 2011 at the Hillside AFC Home of Decker. He was born May 15, 1923 in Bingham Township to the late Louis and Veronica (Bukoski) Tschirhart Maurer. He married Iva McGeachy on November 11, 1950 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Smith Corners. Marvin was a graduate of the Bingham No. 2 School. He served in the US Army in the Pacific Theater and was a member of the Parisville VFW Post #5740. He farmed most of his life. He was a life long parishioner at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Smith Corners. He was a member of the Thumb Draft Horse Association and the Farm Bureau. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing and visiting with family and friends. Marvin is survived by his wife of 60 years, Iva Tschirhart of Ubly; six children, Denise Hunt of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Rodney and his wife, Veronica of St. Clair Shores, Talisa Powers and her special friend, Gary Slavick of Bad Axe, Colleen Tschirhart and Scott Saliard of Bad Axe, Gerald and his wife, Connie and Duane and his wife, Rikki, both of Ubly; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters, Leonard Tschirhart, Madeline Holm Wheaton, Emma Bugai Geiger, Blanche Hunsanger, Bernice Bouverette; three grandsons, Scot Swierczynski, Collin Swierczynski, Trever Powers. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Smith Corners. Rev. Robert Howe, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly, on Monday from 1:30-9 p.m and Tuesday from 10-11 am. at the church only. There will be a parish vigil service Monday evening at 7 pm at the funeral home. Memorials are requested to Home and Hospice Advantage of Cass City or the donor’s choice.
