Rita A. Oberski

Mrs. Rita A. Oberski, 93, of Ubly and Parisville, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2012 at her residence under hospice care.

Rita was born October 14, 1918 in Harbor Beach to the late Lucas and Anna (Hessling) Priemer. She married Bernard D. Oberski on February 3, 1940 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ruth. He preceded her in death on January 8, 2001.

She was a graduate of a country school before doing domestic work in Detroit. Rita enjoyed farming with her husband and family. Rita was a member of the Bad Axe Senior Citizens group. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Parisville where she was very involved as a previous member and president of the St. Mary Rosary Sodality, taught religious education and was chairperson of festival dinners for many years. She also enjoyed gardening, cross stitch, playing euchre, making and decorating wedding cakes, and canning.

Rita is survived by her children, Daniel (Rosemary) Oberski of Shelby Twp., Dale (Grace) Oberski of Sterling Heights, Mark (Teresa) Oberski of Ruth, and Mary Lynn (Mory) Bahar of Gerogetown, MA; son-in-law, Michael (Shirley) Dorr of Simpsonville, KY; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Eugene Priemer, Johanna Oborski, Doris Glaza, Dolores Frantz, and Coletta Magalski.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Debra Dorr, brother, Joseph Priemer and sister, Winnie Sofka.

The funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 25 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Parisville. Rev. Donald Eppenbrock of Lexington will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Parisville from 9:30 a.m. until the mass at 11 am.
