Mary S. Volmering

Mary S. Volmering, 66 of Ruth, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Hurley Medical Center in Flint.

Mary was born on September 20, 1945 in Minden City to Stella (Booms) Lemanski of Bad Axe and the late Leo Lemanski. She married Marvin Volmering on October 5, 1963 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Parisville.

Mary was a parishioner of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. She was a member of the Christian Mothers and the Farm Bureau Elm Creek card club for many years. Mary was a homemaker that took care of her five children growing up on the farm. She also helped her father pick up milk cans from area farms. Mary also worked for a few years at H&R Block. She enjoyed needlepoint, reading, word search puzzles, visiting with grandchildren and her mother, and was an avid daytime soap opera watcher.

She is survived by her husband Marvin of Ruth; five children, Susan (Paul) Ternes of Portage, MI, Marlene (Ray) Mears of Ruth, Norma Volmering (sig. other Kim Loeffler) of Elkton, Michael Volmering of Ruth, and Beverly (Jerry) Steinbis of Bad Axe; 11 grandchildren; her mother, Stella Lemanski of Bad Axe; one sister Rose (Larry) Belleville of Fife Lake, MI, brothers, George (Edna) Lemanski of Ubly, and Leo (Shirley) Lemanski of Ortonville; many in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ruth. Rev. Donald Eppenbrock will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly Monday from 2-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 10-11 a.m at the church only. There will be a Christian Mothers Rosary at 6:00 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
