Barbara Jean Lamke

Mrs. Barbara J. Lamke, 74 of Ubly, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe.

Barb was born on May 23, 1937 in Bad Axe to the late Merle and Edna Mae (Frantz) Nelson. She married Richard Lamke Sr. on October 20, 1973 at the Ubly Presbyterian Church. He preceded her in death on October 30, 2011.

She was a 1955 graduate of Ubly High School. She worked for Hamill Manufacturing in Ubly for many years. She enjoyed going to the lake, especially the Grindstone area. She was a parishioner at St. Mary Catholic Church in Parisville. She enjoyed reading books, doing puzzles and word searches. She truly enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Barb is survived by one daughter, Carol Strong and her special friend, Earl Hallitt of Atlanta, Georgia; three sons, John Strong, Mark Strong and special friend, Alice Schwartz, Richard Lamke Jr., all of Ubly; one grandson, Michael Strong of Bad Axe; one sister, Shirley Bambach and her husband, Terry of Kinde; two brothers-in-law, Elmer Lamke of Ubly, Eugene Lamke and his wife, Mildred, of Parisville; two sisters-in-law, Arlene Longuski and her husband, Jerry and Evelyn Susalla, both of Ubly; one niece, Cathy Bambach of Saginaw, two nephews, Ron Bambach of Kinde, Tom Bambach.

The memorial service will be 6 pm Saturday, April 7, 2012 at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly. Pastor John Rapson will officiate. Burial will be in Valley Cemetery in Ubly.

Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Saturday from 2 pm until the service at 6 pm.
